Caitlyn Jenner Says America Must Move Forward With ‘Love Of The Country’ And ‘Be A Patriot’

Caitlyn Jenner discussed the pride of the American flag and her candidacy for governor of California on Saturday on “Justice with Judge Jeanine,” noting that Californians cannot let Gov. Gavin Newsom forget about the “terrible work” that he did so by leading the state during the pandemic.

Jenner noted that during her lifetime pride in America and the American flag changed, but she still sees herself as a patriot.

“Over the years I have seen the deterioration of our flag, of our love for the country,” she said. “I still love our country. Of course, we have problems, but I am a patriot.”

Jenner referred to Olympic hammer thrower Gwen Berry who turned away from the flag as the national anthem played at the Olympic trials last month, saying the actions bothered her, but that she still believed in individual freedoms .

“I think people like that, who are going to disrespect our flag to make a political statement on social media, are technically entitled to do so,” she said. “But they also have the right to deserve the consequences of their actions.”

The problem, Jenner noted, is that in many cases, there aren’t enough consequences.

“Sometimes you become big stars for things like that,” she said. “Like getting ads for Nike and things like that. It bothers me a lot.”

“This waking world we’re living in right now, honestly, I don’t know how we are moving forward. We have to move forward and be strong, we have to move forward with love of the country, be patriotic, and that is so important to me, “she added.

Jenner also noted that Berry should not be allowed to make a political statement during the Olympics. “Stay there and be proud of what you’ve accomplished,” she said.

The California gubernatorial candidate drew her attention to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s recall, noting that despite the governor’s rising approval rating, she still believes the state needs new leadership.

“California’s decline only accelerated under his rule,” Jenner said.

“Gavin Newsom is only interested in himself, only in keeping his job. We have to keep the pressure on him.”

Jenner said she believed parents would be the driving force behind Newsom’s ouster, given her actions during the coronavirus pandemic.

“I have a feeling the people who are really going to get him to quit are the parents and mothers of the children,” she said. “And that’s the reason for the recall. Because he did such a terrible job closing our schools last year. We can’t let him forget that.”
