California authorities on Wednesday unveiled the name of the alleged driver accused of planting a vehicle to eight people a day earlier, an act that officials said appeared to be intentional.
Isaiah Joel Peoples, of Sunnyvale, Calif., Has been identified by the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety on Twitter.
Peoples reportedly was driving a 2010 black Toyota Corolla that struck the group, officials said following the incident.

That happened around 6:40 pm Tuesday, as the driver was heading west on El Camino Real towards the town of Mountain View, DPS said. After hitting the group, the car went on for a few more meters before crashing against a tree near a shopping center.
The DPS provided a Facebook video update on Wednesday night stating that "based on the evidence gathered at the scene, it seems that Peoples deliberately crushed the pedestrians".
"People did not slow down before the collision and seemed to speed up as he was heading towards the crosswalk crossed by the victims," said Chief Phan Ngo. "The vehicle struck 7 of 8 victims and eventually crashed against a nearby tree."
The suspect was detained as a result of the incident and put in jail "for eight counts of attempted murder," Ngo said.
"Currently, no information links the suspect to known terrorist organizations," he said. "There are no suspects in suspense in this case and it seems that the suspect was acting alone."
An incident witness told the authorities that after the accident, "the people said something similar to" Thank you, my God, "said Ngo.

Of the eight people injured, six of them were taken to the hospital and some have been released since, Ngo said.
Among the wounded is a 13-year-old girl "who has suffered the most serious injury" and who is currently in critical condition, according to the official. The people had no apparent wounds, he added.
The reason for the incident is unknown.
