Alen Karaboghosian, 45, was arrested on Wednesday morning for assault with a deadly weapon and held on $ 130,000 bail, according to Lt. Chris Ramirez of the Los Angeles Police Department. Police say he's shown on a surveillance video attacking a 51-year-old real estate agent on Sunday.
The suspect has also been arrested for several sexual battery charges related to additional crimes already under investigation, said a police spokesman.
Karaboghosian, a resident of Encino, does not have a lawyer. He has not yet appeared in court.
According to spokesman Ricardo Santiago, the district attorney's office in Los Angeles has not yet had the case.
An officer attacked in front of the entrance door
The real estate agent was at an open house in Encino when the suspect approached her, police said in a press release.
The surveillance images show the two people talking in front of the door. The face of the man is visible when he removes his hat and looks into the camera. Then, after shaking hands, the video shows the man pushing her to the ground and running towards her.
The video does not show what he did when she was on the floor. The woman said that the man had fled the scene.
"I think it would have me raped, it's number 1, and it would have killed me," she told the channel.
The agent said that she had already seen the man before.
She told KCAL that he had come to an open house that she had organized and that something in her womb had told her that it was dangerous.
"From the first day, I had the impression that this person could hurt me," she said.
Because of this feeling, she asked a friend to stay with her at the Sunday Open House. But once that friend is gone, the man has arrived, KCAL reported.
Uncomfortably, she directed his conversation with him under the porch, reported the station. She added that the man had asked her to show her the cupboards, to get her some water and to use the bathroom, but she refused to go to the house with him.
She says that she does not know if she will continue working in real estate after the attack. CNN does not publish the names of victims of sexual assault who ask for anonymity.
The real estate agent was injured as a result of bruises and cuts during the incident, but all is well, said his director, Bob Siegmeth of Keller Williams Realty at Porter Ranch.
It was traumatic for her, Siegmeth added.
CNN contacted the real estate agent, but she said she was not ready to comment.
After the video of the attack was broadcast on television, several people came forward to claim to have been victims of a physical or sexual assault of the same man, police said.
Sarah Moon and Cheri Mossburg's reports on CNN have been reported in Los Angeles. Madeline Holcombe of CNN wrote and wrote in Atlanta. Stella Chan, Steve Almasy and Michelle Krupa from CNN contributed to this report.
