As COVID-19 vaccinations continue to rise across California, the state is rolling out a work program for a vaccine for volunteers.
The governor’s office, working with California Volunteers, on Monday launched MyTurnVolunteer, a portal where people can register to work in teams of volunteers at vaccination sites, based on their zip code, and in turn become eligible. for a shot.
A California Volunteers spokesperson told SFGate that most vaccination sites are looking for medical or general support volunteers, and anyone who works four hours or more can be vaccinated, even if they are not eligible under state directives.
Opportunities are limited, officials said, but people can sign up on the portal to be notified when a volunteer window opens.
General immunization eligibility is currently limited to people aged 65 and over, healthcare workers and some essential workers such as educators, according to the state’s multi-level system.
