California authorities announced Saturday that the mother and aunt of a 6-year-old "criticized" child had been arrested for killing the boy.
Apple Valley police faced a home Thursday night after a family member asked for a "welfare check" to 6-year-old Duke Flores, announced in a news conference. a statement the sheriff's department of San Bernardino County.
Jakee Contreras, the boy's mother, told members that he had not been seen for about two weeks, prompting authorities to travel the region, the department said.

The mother was arrested and detained in a detention center for neglected children "for the delay with which she reported her disappearance".
The next day, detectives arrived at the scene and the search for the missing child continued, officials said.
"The detectives gathered evidence and conducted many interviews throughout the day with family members," the press release said.
Following an interview with Contreras on Saturday, she was convicted of murder and held without bail, officials said. The same day, Jennifer Contreras, the boy's aunt, was also arrested and sentenced for murder, according to the sheriff's department. She is also detained without bail.

"The investigation is underway and the detectives are pursuing the search for Duke Flores," officials said.
The sheriff's ministry released Facebook on Friday an article about this missing child, claiming he had been last seen in the Cherokee and Pawnee area of Apple Valley, California.
