A woman who provoked a national outcry after reprimanding a 74-year-old "Make America Great Again" bonnet at a San Francisco-area café earlier this month was said to be missing on Friday, officials said .
Rebecca Parker Mankey, 46, did not return home to Palo Alto after a stay in Lake County, the Lake County Sheriff's Office announced. It is thought that she is in Aberdeen, Washington, because of the activity of the cell phone that placed her there. Investigators believe that Mankey was hiding amid the negative attention sparked by the coffee incident.
"We have nothing to suggest that she is at risk," said Sgt. Aaron Clark of the Lake County Sheriff's Office told the Mercury News in San Jose during a telephone conversation Friday night. "We determined with the people we talked to that she was wanting voluntarily."

Melissa Demyan, a friend of Mankey, wrote in an article published Friday on Facebook that she had not heard from Mankey for more than 24 hours.
"My friend Parker is gone," she wrote. "It's been over 24 hours since anyone saw or heard about it, I saw her for the last time when she was leaving Lake County to go home yesterday …" Parker, if you're reading this: we love you so much and we want to know you're safe, let us know you're fine! "
Mankey drew the country's attention earlier this month after shouting and reprimanding a man wearing a MAGA hat in a Starbucks in Palo Alto.

"He will never forget me and will seriously think about wearing this hat in my city," she wrote in a post posted on Facebook after the incident, according to the newspaper. "If you see him in this hat, please confront him, you do not want to be the person who did not speak while we went to fascism."
The man, identified as Victor, told the local media that Mankey called him a racist, among other names.
"This woman came and not only started screaming after me, she turned to the Starbucks audience and said," Hey, everyone is coming here! This guy is racist! This guy hates browns! ", Did he declare.

Mankey's social media release sparked a firestorm and she ended up losing her job at Gryphon Stringed Instruments, a company that sells, rents and repairs used and vintage musical instruments. She has also received numerous online threats and resigned from her role as Co-Chair of Bayshore's Progressive Democrats.
"Parker was firmly convinced that she wanted to use her privilege as a white woman to defend those who live in fear because of the hateful atmosphere created by Trump," the club wrote on her Facebook page.
