A reputable insider leaks the title of Call of Duty 2022, and the name fits perfectly with previous leaks on Infinity Ward’s upcoming game.
While Call of Duty: The Vanguard hasn’t even come out yet, Call of Duty fans already have a lot of information about what the next two games in the series will be. Now that knowledge has grown, as one reputable insider told the Call of Duty community that the game of 2022 is called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
The information in question comes from reputable insider Tom Henderson, who was right to Call of Duty, Battlefield, and other franchises on several occasions. Recently, Henderson shared a lot of information about Call of Dutythe future. According to his sources, Call of Duty 2023 will be semi-futuristic like what was seen in Call of Duty Black Ops 2. As for next year’s game, it will be a direct sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019, which many expected to be.
Given the successful restart of Modern war was for Infinity Ward, it’s hardly surprising that the developer plans to continue to flesh out their new universe. However, one big question fans have been asking themselves is the title of the game. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare name already confused gamers in 2019, as a game with the same brand was released in 2007. As such, many wondered if Infinity Ward and Activision would risk going with it. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for next year’s game, as it would surely bring so much confusion.
Instead of going with a super long title like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Infinity Ward takes the simple route. Next year’s game will indeed be named Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 according to this leak, although it is slightly different. The Roman numeral for 2 will serve as the official title, a smart marketing initiative that should help make next year Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II stand out from the 2009s Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Henderson also claims to have seen the art of the box, describing it as “amazing”.
As to what Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will be by the way, Henderson thinks the story will focus on fighting the drug cartels, with the players likely being in Task Force 141. It would be a nice change after years of Russia being the main antagonist, and this could allow players to explore iconic locations like Favela from the original Modern warfare 2. The rebooted Task Force 141 is confirmed to include Soap, Ghost, and Gaz, with more characters likely to be on Price’s team as well.
It will be interesting to see where the story of Task Force 141 goes, and hopefully the group does better than in 2009. For now, however, it looks like fans have quite a bit of reason. to be excited.
