Camila Cabello has come under fire after including an overly-tanned bombshell dancer in the premiere of her single Don’t Go Yet on Jimmy Fallon, which aired Friday.

And the 24-year-old Cuban-American singer responded to the growing backlash by sharing a post with her Twitter account, which was composed on the Notes app on her iPhone on Saturday afternoon.

Camila attempted to explain that dancer Dylan Pearce “was just supposed to be a white man with a terrible spray tan” and not an attempted brown face.

“We deliberately tried to bring together a multicultural group of artists, the expectation was not that everyone in the performance needed to be Latin,” Cabello continued.

“There are white people, African Americans, Latins, etc. and so the point was not to try to make everyone look Latin either. There are a lot of people in the show who aren’t.

“The goal was to try and make each person look like an 80s character like in the video, including a white guy with a terrible orange tan,” Camila concluded, with a heart-shaped emoji.

Still, many fans on Twitter weren’t happy, with one user writing, “This isn’t an apology, it wasn’t OK and offended a lot of people! It was not necessary.

Other users concerned about claims of cultural appropriation said that “it just doesn’t make sense” or “it gets even more confusing.”

The performance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, which aired Friday, featured Camila among several showy dressed dancers, who indeed recalled her recently released music video for the track.

The video for Don’t Go Yet, from the Havana starlet’s third studio album Familia, premiered Thursday and looked a lot like rejected scenes from an 1980s Almodóvar movie.

This week, CC took to social media to share her debut single from 2021, as well as the music video directed by Philippa Price and Pilar Zeta.

‘#DontGoYet is the first song from my next album, Familia. This album was inspired by two things: family and food. Your family by blood, but also your chosen family. Whoever you want to sit at the table, drink wine and dance with in the living room, ”posted Camila to her approximately 12.3 million followers on Twitter.
