HELSINKI – Finnish Patrik Laine The Winnipeg Jets defeated the Florida Panthers 4-2 in a regular season game in the Finnish capital Thursday.
Laine scored in the second period and twice in the third, including an empty net, for the Jets, who opened the series back-to-back between the teams in front of a crowd of 13,500 spectators at the Hartwall Arena.
He pbaded a goal to the keeper James Reimer on a power play to claim a 2-1 lead for the Jets with 4:46 to make in the second, then slap a timekeeper for the winner on a two-player advantage from the top left circle last period before scoring on an empty net.
Mathieu Perreault scored the first goal for the Jets (8-4-1) and the defender Dustin Byfuglien had three pbades. The Panthers (2-5-3), who dominated Winnipeg 38-36, tied the game twice Keith Yandle and Evgenii Dadonov.
Captain of Florida Aleksander Barkov, also from Finland, participated in the first match of Perreault.

The Panthers took the early momentum, beating the Jets 9-0 in the opening minutes. They controlled the game and the puck most of the opening period, but the goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck kept them at bay, recoiling 18 shots in the opening frame.
During the process, Hellebuyck frustrated Dadonov during a breakaway and helped the Jets remove a two-minute penalty before Perreault struck from the other side, scoring the goal of the recovery on a rebound with a time remaining of 1:26.
Yandle tied the score for Florida with 15:42 to go in the second period, shooting a shot for a power play of four against three.
It was the 24th match played in Europe in the regular season and the sixth in Finland.
