According to the Police Department, a woman rented a black Nissan Sentra from a rental company at the end of June. After taking the car, she stopped at Walmart to shop, before returning to the parking lot, jumping into a black car and returning home.
Shortly after, the Cornwall police received a call from a man who was leaving Walmart only to find his car, a black Infiniti, missing from the parking lot.
She used the car for two weeks, normally going to her daily occupations; Apparently she did not know that the car she was in was not the one she had rented.
The first clue that something was wrong was when she went to return the car to the rental agency. According to police, she complained to the state director of the car, saying that the interior was poorly cleaned and that there was a set of golf clubs in the car
. the police say. The keys returned by the woman belonged to an Infiniti vehicle, not to the Nissan that she had rented. After having convinced that the vehicle was not the one that she had taken on the ground, they worked to trace her steps over the past two weeks.
Together, they returned to Walmart that she had visited shortly after renting. The woman indicated the area in which she had parked, only to find the black Nissan Sentra still there.
The director and the woman, who according to the police were a little embarrbaded by this point, contacted the police. They found the Infiniti stolen in their system and were able to adjust what had happened.
