An overdose of Napanee students on counterfeit Xanax possibly laced with fentanyl – Kingston

According to a notice sent Tuesday to parents by Napanee District High School, many of their students have responded to an overdose of Xanax counterfeit over the past two weeks.

"Schools and emergency services have been able to intervene and provide timely interventions and care to those affected, but we are concerned about the ongoing safety and well-being of our students," reads in the news. 39; opinion.

The school said Napanee OPP had been implicated and warned education officials that Xanax, a prescription drug used to treat anxiety and panic disorders, might contain fentanyl.

"According to the information we received from the police, the drugs that circulate in our community are counterfeit and may contain fentanyl or other opiates, which can lead to life-threatening or even life-threatening conditions," he says. the press release.

According to Shannon Cork, Napanee's OPP Media Relations Officer, the police responded to calls about illicit drug use at school, but she could not comment further because the investigation is in progress.

The school said it shared its concerns with parents and students in the school.

The notice encouraged students who may be in possession of the counterfeit Xanax to throw it into a safe landing area at the Wallace's PharmaChoice Drug Store in Napanee.
