Brooks: Wings of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation Annual Luncheon Another Big Success

Imagine that you have bad cancer. Could it get worse? Unfortunately, for many women – and some men, yes, it is possible. What happens if you are not employed and do not benefit from health care benefits? And if your nest egg covered barely a month's rent? How are you going to cope?

Fortunately, the Wings of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation provides financial badistance to low-income women with bad cancer who are following or have been treated at the Tom Baker Cancer Center in Calgary. Founded in 1995 by Diana Kalef, the foundation has raised more than $ 2 million since its inception and provides much-needed financial badistance to help patients focus on recovery – rather than asking how to pay rent or buy l & # 39; groceries.

Its fundraiser, the annual Wings of Hope Breakfast, is an event not to be missed and this year's edition was no exception. More than 500 guests gathered at the Hyatt Regency on October 12 to support the foundation. Inspiring stories, a powerful video, fabulous Hillberg & Berk jewelery for sale with proceeds directed at the foundation, and an introductory speech by Hillberg's founder and CEO, Rachel Mielke, were just some of the highlights of lunch. Miekle's address, "The Power of the Spark," sparked loud applause. The fact that she brought her jewelry company from six to more than 200 people – and donated more than $ 1.5 million worth of products and money to causes empowering women – was the kind of good news that the guests present were grateful.

Breakfast Co-Chairs Rhonda Aiello and Beth Brownrigg partnered with Foundation Chair Leanne Campbell and other Foundation volunteers to ensure all attendees have a memorable time. .
