Church & Dwight raises expectations as sales increase by 7%

Thursday announced earnings of $ 146.3 million for the third quarter, or 58 cents per share, up from $ 133.4 million, or 52 cents a share, a year earlier. Analysts surveyed by Refinitiv were looking for 54 cents per share.

Consumer goods net sales rose 7.2% to $ 1.04 billion, ahead of the consensus forecast of $ 1.02 billion. Sales of organic products increased 4.7%, led by a global growth of 5.4% in consumer products.

For 2018, the company now expects organic sales growth of about 4%, up from the previous estimate of 3.5%. It is still expecting sales growth above 9% for the entire year.

The company also sees earnings per share of $ 2.27 for the full year, compared with $ 2.26 to $ 2.28 previously. It is now also forecasting growth in adjusted earnings per share of 17%, which was previously estimated at between 17% and 18%.

For the fourth quarter, the company expects organic sales growth of about 3%. The company also sees earnings per share of 57 cents, compared to badysts' estimates of 61 cents per share.
