Elon Musk "happy to help" in rescuing Thai boys stuck in the cave

If all else fails, Elon Musk will be there

It's the message that he shared with a Twitter user who asked if he could help save the Thai boys and their coach who were stuck in a cave in northern Thailand.

Musk wrote to the user that he suspected that the Thai government "had this control under control," he would be "happy to help if there was a way to do it".

It is not clear whether or how Musk will offer his services. However, one of the current rescue options is to drill in the cave where the team is stuck and save it that way. Of course, Musk's Boring Company is involved in underground tunnels. Although the intended application for these tunnels is the construction of its Hyperloop, an underground high-speed transit system, the same tools could perhaps be used to help save the boys.

The boys are currently close to one kilometer below the surface and in a confined space, so the operation could be dangerous. The authorities are also considering other options, including teaching boys to dive out of the cave or drain the cave system.

Authorities hope to release the team in the coming days before the monsoon rains arrive on weekends. If they are unable to do so, they risk being trapped in the cavern, cut off supplies and communication, for several months.
