Ferry stuck at Prince Rupert terminal after failure of fire detection system

A BC ferry with mechanical problems has been stuck in the Prince Rupert terminal since Sunday morning.

The Northern Adventure was unable to depart at its scheduled departure time of 10 am CST at Skidegate, BC According to BC Ferries spokesperson, Deborah Marshall ,

she said the ship would remain docked until a piece of equipment was found to fix the problem.

A statement from BC Ferries indicated that she needed a specialist. Miami coming to attend the ship

"We are sorry for the situation but we can not navigate without this room equipment, "Marshall said.

Marshall BC Ferries will work with customers on a case-by-case basis and will attempt to book them again for future crossings when the problem is resolved

It could not confirm when the ferry will be back in service .
