After 18 weeks on the picket lines, the Okanagan is a step closer to being back on the job.
The B.C Government and Service Employees' Local Union 1707, which represents 702 unionized casino workers at Gateway Casinos in Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon and Kamloops, started striking June 29.
The main issue of contention between the employer and the union was wages.
Workers were also fighting for better working conditions.
Thursday morning, the union and the employer have reached an agreement.
No details of the agreement have been released.
"Our focus is the ratification process," said BCGEU President Stephanie Smith. "We need to make sure we understand the deal and get a chance to vote.
Employees will remain on the picket lines until the ratification process is complete.
No dates have been set for the vote so far.
Gateway Casinos director Tanya Gabara said she would like to see ratification of the agreement.
Smith praised the employees who have been on the picket lines for so long.
"We are so proud of the commitment and solidarity of our members," she said. "I also want to thank our friends in the labor movement for their solidarity over the past 18 weeks."
Reaching the attempt agreement was an intensive process, said Smith.
"I want to thank the bargaining committee for their extraordinary work, especially over the last days of intensive sessions," she said.
