LOS ANGELES – Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth separated after less than a year of marriage.
A representative of the singer said Saturday that the two men had decided that a break was better while they were focusing on "themselves and their careers".
Cyrus and Hemsworth, who have starred in "The Hunger Games", have been a casual couple for over a decade.
They got married in December.
The representative stated that the couple would remain "dedicated parents to all the animals they would share". They asked for privacy.
The hosts have both performed in the 2010 romantic drama "The Last Song".
The split was reported Saturday by People magazine.
