Quebec's annual flu vaccination program began this week with the slogan: "We are not all equal when it comes to the flu."

The campaign, which began Monday and continues until mid-December, says the flu shot is the best defense for seniors or those with chronic illness.

However, the program has been modified following the recommendations of the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec.

Now, children from six months to 23 months and healthy adults aged 60 to 74 are not included in the "candidates necessary" for vaccination, their risk of suffering complications from the flu is considered low.

However, members of these groups can still receive a free flu shot if they or their parents request it.
