What if model 3 was a Ford or a BMW?

It seems pretty common these days to attribute love to the Tesla Model 3 and a strong support for Tesla in general to some kind of cult The Elon Muske. You know, Tesla is so extremely popular only because of the eccentric pizzaz, nerdy, superhero and unconventional marketing of Elon Musk. Tesla cars are doing well, but they are in high demand just because Tesla fans are crazy and quite illogical. And there is not as much demand as everyone supposes anyway, is not it?

But something went through my mind a few months ago, and I planned to write this article ever since. How would the market and those same critics react if the model 3 was a BMW, a Honda or a Ford instead of a Tesla? In particular, I often think of BMW since the 3 model is all that a BMW is supposed to be – super sporty, luxurious, cool, cutting-edge technology, and in the end, the ultimate driving machine .

What would be the demand and how much the critics would be pleased if a BMW model had clean and powerful acceleration, battery manipulation and improved software, the top autonomous driving characteristics of range, and the innovative touch screen of the Tesla Model 3? How would the market react, how would the media react, and how would the stock market react if BMW received half a million reservations for the car and went red for a few quarters to increase production?

is not just about how much a BMW Model 3 would have been popular. The point, too, is that BMW is not the company producing the model 3. Ford either. Honda is not either. Skoda either. That's Tesla. And a handful of startups are dreaming of following him, while major automakers are trying to pretend that they have competitors coming out … one day … in one volume … in some places.

Apparently, none of the major car manufacturers could produce the model 3. Apparently, BMW does not have battery expertise, software leadership, savings of $ 40. EV-offer scale, bravery, or propensity to hardcore electric innovation to produce the model 3. Look, I drive a BMW i3 – I love it. But this is not a model 3, is not at the level of Model 3 with respect to many consumers, and will never reach the scale of production at which the Tesla Model 3 is intended.

In addition, BMW does not want to have such a successful electric model. If this were the case, this would cancel the sales of its 3, 4, 5, etc., gas and diesel series, which would put BMW in a very difficult financial situation and, in all likelihood, in a very difficult situation for the shareholders.
