A riot suspect on Capitol Hill surrendered to authorities after he allegedly attacked police, hit a cop and threw others with a baseball bat in the storming of the federal building earlier this month, according to de recent court documents.
Emanuel Jackson visited the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department on Monday when he admitted he was involved in the January 6 violence and went further to positively identify with the footage of the events in day and admitted to assaulting police, according to an arrest warrant filed in federal court in DC on Monday.
Several photos and videos from the Capitol headquarters show Jackson wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, beige backpack, and a blue mask that, sometimes, is located under his nose or mouth.

As a crowd ascended the stairs leading to the entrance to the Senate wing of the US Capitol at around 2 p.m. on January 6, Jackson was reportedly seen on surveillance video “punching and repeatedly punching an officer in the US Capitol Police … while trying to forcibly enter. the building, “the court documents say.
Shortly after 2:45 p.m., when the crowd overpowered the officers, Jackson was said to have been one of the first people to walk through the gates.

Hours later, around 4:50 p.m., as the crowd clashed with police at the West Terrance entrance to the Capitol, Jackson appeared to be armed with a metal baseball bat.
“The defendant is observed repeatedly hitting a group of uniformed officers from the United States Capitol and the Metropolitan Police Department with the baseball bat,” court documents further state.

He was charged Monday with assaulting a US officer; assault a United States officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon; obstruction of a formal process; illegal entry and physical violence on a building or restricted land; and violent entry and disorderly conduct on the Capitol grounds, according to a criminal complaint.
A lawyer was not yet in court records and Jackson could not be reached immediately for comment.

Police officials previously said 56 MPD and Capitol Police (USCP) officers were injured during the siege. USCP officer Brian Sicknick later died of injuries sustained that day.
Four other people, including Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, died during the insurgency.
