Caps beat the Maple Leafs 3-2

The Capitals took the win in the North tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs. A victory on the road is very, very good. A quick first period resulted in no goals for both sides. It was one of those times when you had the impression of watching an exciting tennis match. Great odds on both ends come and go with high speed and hard action. Braden Holtby looked like a brick wall.

Scores started in the second period when Alex Ovechkin scored a power play goal behind Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen. It was his 43rd of the season. Brett Connolly scored a goal to bring the Capitals back up after Tom Wilson's downfall. It was Connolly's 15th goal, equaling his highest level in career.

The goals of the third period began almost five minutes after an enveloping wrap and a rebound by Andreas Johnsson. But, Johnsson was eliminated by the Maple Leafs because Tom Wilson was taken away by him for a perfect goal on the penalty kill.

The Caps beat the Maple Leafs 3-2!

  • Some big news on the Brett Connolly Before, he tied his career record for goals with his # 15 tonight. I think it's safe to say that I feel that it will pass soon. Do not worry, I'm hitting furiously on the wood.
  • Sometimes the choice of the jersey muddies
  • Saint Holtby. Braden Holtby gave us some of these "backup" feels during the first period. He looked gorgeous tonight.
  • I could not erase the smile from my face after seeing Tom Wilson score a penalty-kill goal in his hometown. It was his second under-power goal of the season. Never forget a very important story of Steve Dangle:
  • Love the colors of boys tonight! The accents are very present, I think!

The Capitals slowly descend to Capital One arena. Before their return, they will have to make one last stop in Buffalo, in the State of New York, to face the Sabers. Saturday at 1 pm, we will see you then.
