Captain Marvel has taken a decisive step at the box office. The superhero film starring Brie Larson has grossed more than $ 1 billion in global box office since its premiere in March.
It has grossed $ 358 million in North America and $ 645 million in international markets, for a total of about $ 1.03 billion worldwide. It's the first superhero movie directed by a woman to win $ 1 billion. The Wonder Woman movie from DC with Gal Gadot brought in $ 821 million at the global box office.
It's the seventh MCU film to generate more than a billion dollars at the global box office, and the 18th Disney movie to surpass a billion dollar, according to Variety.
Other MCU films that have generated more than $ 1 billion include Avengers: Infinity War, The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Black Panther, Iron Man 3 and Captain America: Civil War. To date, the 21 MCU films have generated more than $ 18.5 billion.
