Carles Alena won his first Barcelona start to the season against Dynamo Kiev and certainly didn’t let Ronald Koeman down in the 4-0 Champions League win.
The midfielder, who was linked with an exit in January, came from injured Sergio Busquets and teamed up with Miralem Pjanic in the midfield.
It’s fair to say that Alena barely went wrong when it comes to passing:
Alena will be hoping he has done enough to gain more playing time in the coming weeks, and Barca will certainly have plenty of matches between now and the January window opening.
Busquets has been tipped to come back this weekend against Osasuna, although it is not yet guaranteed that he will be fit to start. Frenkie de Jong is also expected to return after being rested, but may be needed in defense due to the club’s injury issues.
