Carnival Corporation brands Princess Cruises and Holland America Line held a celebration today at the Port of Seattle to mark their return to cruise operations in the United States.

Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises, and Gus Antorcha, president of Holland America Line, spoke about the positive impact of the resumption of cruises on Seattle, the local community and Alaska, according to a press release.

Marking the return of Carnival brands to Seattle

Holland America Line kicks off its season in Alaska with the departure of the Nieuw Amsterdam tomorrow, July 24, and Princess Cruises will follow with the Majestic Princess on July 25. Each line will offer ten cruises from Seattle through September.

The two cruise lines have been in the Port of Seattle for over 20 years. Operationally, each ship visit contributes more than $ 364,000 directly to the local economy in supplies (fuel, food, flowers, piano tuning, supplies), port taxes and expenses for a full season, according to a statement.
