But according to a series of reports, CarPlay just appears to be turned off, despite the device actually connecting to the main unit and charging normally. CarPlay is enabled on the phone, so theoretically there is no reason for the car interface not to show up.

As with most issues in the CarPlay world, it is possible that this new issue is all down to the cable. The iPhone 12 now comes with a USB-C to Lightning cable, so users need to turn to another USB-A to Lightning cable to run CarPlay.

And that’s probably what’s causing all of these problems, although some say that not even using an official Apple USB-A to Lightning cable does the trick. Oddly enough, the random cables seem to work just fine with the iPhone 12 Pro, so the fix is ​​to try out multiple cords and see which one lets you run CarPlay.

Obviously, unless your car came with a USB-C interface to run CarPlay, you’d have to go for a standard USB-A to Lightning cable, even with the iPhone 12.
