Last month, she posted an adorable photo of her toddler, Jacob, from when he was still a newborn to celebrate his second birthday on January 21.

Carrie and Mike welcomed their first son in 2015, but throughout 2017 and 2018 the American Idol star suffered three miscarriages as she tried to conceive again.

In an interview with CBS News in 2018, she admitted that family tragedies inspired her 2018 single Cry Pretty, on the album of the same name.

‘Throughout the process [of miscarrying], you know, I write and like, literally right after I found out I was going to lose a baby, I would have a writing session, I was like, “Let’s go. You know, I can’t just sit there thinking about this. Like, I want to work, I want to do this, ”she recalls.

She then described the experience of songwriting as “therapeutic”.
