Carrie Underwood fans slam CMA Awards for snub, say organization should be “ashamed”

The CMA Award released their list of nominees for 2021, and let’s just say the fans aren’t happy.

There is one category in particular that annoys country music fans: Female singer of the year. When the nominees were posted on Instagram, many noticed that Carrie Underwood was absent from the list for the first time in 15 years. While most people were happy to see Gabby Barrett, Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris, and Carly Pearce were nominated, many people wondered how the cry pretty the singer could be left out.

“Carrie Underwood should have been there too!” One person wrote. “Carrie sang better last year than her entire career. While all of these women are very talented, Carrie could literally outdo any female country artist at any time,” said another.

One person on Twitter even went so far as to say that the organization should be “ashamed” of itself. “Ridiculous. These people adamantly refuse to live in reality and don’t even recognize @carrieunderwood’s record accomplishments. You should be ashamed of yourself @CountryMusic #CMAAwards #EntertainerOfTheYear #MySavior #AlbumoftheYear.”

However, on the bright side for Carrie fans, she was nominated for Artist of the year. She and Miranda are the only two nominated women with Luc Combs, Eric Church, and Chris Stapleton.
