Mize, last year's No. 1 draft pick, led the SeaWolves to a 1-0 victory over the Altoona Curve (Pirates) at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona, Penn.

"He was full, man," said Jake Rogers, the receiver. "Since the first run, he has come out and he has taken out the guys, making them ridiculous, and since then I knew that if we attacked them, something special would happen."

The no-hitter scored the fourth in SeaWolves history and the second of the season, while Alex Faedo, the Tigers' No. 10 hope, had pitched seven innings of a non-batter combined on 24 April.

Erie's only run was started in round five when Chad Sedio brought Rogers back to first base.

Mize, who boasts of his command, hits the first batter of the match, but quickly finds the area. After hiring the first man, Mize retired 19 in a row before offering a run of two outings in the seventh. The 21-year-old finished seventh and the team withdrew the team in the order of the eighth and ninth inning to complete the draw.

Not only did Mize launch a non-hitter, but he did it effectively, needing only 98 shots (70 shots), including a sixth inning four shots, to spin the first complete match of his career.

"He's smart up there," Rogers said. "He knows what he wants to do, he trusted me a bit tonight and we just went after him, he's just ordering all the land and he's attacking guys."

Prior to promotion to Erie, Mize was 0-0 with a 0.35 ERA in four starts with Lakeland. On those starts, with a total of 26 innings, the right handed seven hits, made one and took out 25.
