BOSTON (CBS) – At this point Cassius Marsh may have spent more time talking about the Patriots than he has spent at the Patriots. Nonetheless, it works for him from a visibility standpoint.

Marsh, who played nine games for the Patriots in 2017 before being ruled out, opened up about his brief tenure in New England on the “2 Bears, 1 Cave” podcast with Tom Segura. The 29-year-old – now with the Steelers, his seventh NFL team – has again reflected on his tenure with the Patriots with a lot of negativity.
“The Patriot Way is pretty, it’s extremely impressive. Like, they work day in and day out, their work ethic there, what they instill is pretty legendary. But they also treat the players like crap, ”Marsh said.
First thought of Marsh to explain this claim: no lunch for the players.
“They don’t, you don’t like – you don’t have lunch, period,” Marsh said. “You get there and you have to take the time to eat between meetings. And those are 5-10 minute periods where I was literally going to pick up food and put it in a cup and mash it really quickly before I got to the next meeting. At this point, Marsh made up for it, noting that he “got in trouble” a few years ago for saying the Patriots weren’t having fun. In that interview, however, Marsh said the Patriots players thanked him privately for saying what he said publicly.
“Here’s the thing. Like, nobody over there is saying anything publicly, because they’ve won so many championships. So you don’t want to disrupt the fan base because after winning a Super Bowl you can get paid for New England signings for the rest of your life because you are a Super Bowl champion, ”said Marsh. “So it was funny how when I did this article, a lot of players thanked me for enjoying publicizing how badly they treat guys.”
Marsh also said that staying on Bill Belichick’s good side is very important to any Patriot.

A 2018 report said Marsh had a “tirade” in the locker room over playing time for the 2017 season, which led to his rushed departure from the team.
In the podcast interview, Marsh suggested that he doesn’t really enjoy attending Belichick’s daily meetings.
“Dude, alright. Therefore [laughing]. Yo, so imagine, oh man… imagine you work like a 9 to 5, and like, everybody’s like a team meeting, right? And it’s almost like a school assembly, okay? And the guy coming in is like the CEO and he’s like an old guy who you know doesn’t play any games. So like when he walks in it’s completely silent. Like… everything stops. All the phones are put away. All the laughs, all kinds of little chatter, over. K? No one is playing with Bill. I mean… nobody plays with Bill for the most part, ”Marsh said. “So he goes in there and then he goes up like a podium and he talks to the team for about 45 minutes to an hour each morning. The Seahawks traded Marsh to New England in 2017 and then released him again in 2019, when he tried to make the squad for the second time. Since then he has played for Arizona, Jacksonville and Indianapolis. He signed with Pittsburgh last December, but has yet to play for the Steelers.
