The mother of British teen actor Archie Lyndhurst has revealed the cause of his sudden death and shared a beautiful but heartbreaking tribute to her late son.
The star, best known for her role in CBBC’s comedy series “So Awkward”, died at age 19 on September 22, 2020 – a month before her birthday. He is the only child of Lucy Lyndhurst and her husband and actor Nicolas Lyndhurst of “Only Fools and Horses”. On Friday, January 15, Lucy shared photos of the couple with Archie on Instagram and revealed that he had died of a brain hemorrhage caused by rare cancer.
“Four days before Christmas Nick and I sat down at Harley Street with the results of Archie’s second postmortem,” she writes. “A very detailed document, which we had been warned by the coroner would be a heartbreaking read, and best explained by a doctor.” The doctor explained that Archie died of natural causes (something we already knew, only gossip, keyboard warriors, trolls and the ignorant thought differently). “
She continued, “He died of an intracerebral hemorrhage caused by lymphoma / acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It is not leukemia as we know it, the word acute in medical terms means rapid. He assured us that no one could not have done anything. Archie showed no signs of illness. Archie had a lot of brain bleeds and the Dr went to great lengths to reassure us that he would not have suffered like this happened in his sleep. “

Lucy said that just days before his death, Archie celebrated his early birthday with “the love of his life Nethra”, who “was to leave with professional commitments”. Archie had dated his “So Awkward” co-star Nethra Tilakumara. The actress paid tribute to her on her own Instagram page several times after her death.
“Archie was the most extraordinary magical human being we have ever met,” Lucy wrote in her post. “We still learn every day of the incredible impact he had on the lives of others, the kindness and generosity he showed them. He was an old soul and incredibly advanced for his years in many ways. As parents, we couldn’t be more proud of him. for all he accomplished in the short time available to him, and especially for the beautiful human being that he was. “
She continued, “We are so grateful and privileged to have been chosen to be her parents. The trip and adventure was the best anyone could have hoped for. A truly magical time in every way.”
In a second Instagram post shared that day, Lucy wrote, “Nick and I try every day to make Archie proud, but it’s baby steps, beyond difficulty and sometimes a struggle. The world is a very different place without him. One of my last conversations with him was about everything going on in the world, the chaos, the anger about all the different subjects. He looked at me with his huge eyes touching bruises, shook his head and said: so easy to love. And that was for him. He gave it everywhere he went in abundance. “
Lucy also said that her son was an “empath” who “loved life, he valued everyone and every moment given to him”.
“He was always singing and had such energy and passion in everything he did,” she wrote. “To be a part of her life has been the most joyous honor. We miss him every day and always will be. There aren’t enough words to describe him, he was unique and beyond unique. Our darling, we love you forever and ever and thank you everyday, for every beautiful memory we have. We will always celebrate you. All our love. Mom and OM “
