(LEX 18) – The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Fisher-Price issued a consumer warning regarding the Fisher-Price Rock Play due to 10 deaths reported during the switchover of infants into the product.
The CPSC report states that the 10 deaths that occurred in the Rock & N Play have occurred since 2015 after infants rolled their back against the belly or side while they were no longer tied . They said the 10 infants were all three years old or older.
CPSC recommends that consumers stop using the product at the time the baby reaches the age of three months or when it has a turning ability. They cited medical publications, claiming that babies usually start to behave at the age of three months.
Fisher-Price warns people that the product should not be used when infants can turn around and that the patient's reported death indicates that the product is used when infants are able to ride without using the three-point safety harness .
CPSC said it voted in favor of publishing a conclusion that the health and safety of the public must be notified immediately.
