CBS sets "Big Bang Theory" special behind the scenes for broadcast after the series finale

CBS will air a special show behind the scenes on "The Big Bang Theory" following the CBS sitcom finale next month.

The one-hour show called "The Mystery: A Farewell to the Big Bang" will air at 10 pm. ET / PT on Thursday 16 May. The special will be hosted by Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco, who will share some of the "best-kept secrets behind the scenes" of the 12-season comedy. The show will also allow viewers to get acquainted with Warner Bros. Stage 25, where the series is shot.

Earlier this year, the sound stage was officially renamed "The Big Bang Stage Stage".

The long – standing sitcom will end with an hour – long finale on Thursday, May 16 from 8 pm to 9 pm. ET / PT. "Young Sheldon" will come back from an hour that night at 9 pm. for his second season finale. At the end of the series, "Big Bang" will become the longest multi-camera series in the history of television with 279 episodes.

"The Big Bang Theory" debuted in 2007 and won 52 Emmy nominations (including 10 winners) and seven Golden Globes nominations. Jim Parsons himself won four Emmys for the lead role in a comedy, his most recent victory in 2014. The show has always been one of the most watched shows on television and has often been used by CBS as a launching pad for new broadcasts.
