The 3000-player club has a new member.
On Tuesday night, Yankees southpaw CC Sabathia became the 17th pitcher in history with 3,000 career outs. He is only the third southpaw with 3,000 strikeouts. Oddly enough, Sabathia broke through on her first career start at Chase Field on Tuesday. It's the 33rd different baseball stadium he's launched.
Here is the barrage of milestones. Sabathia's family was in the stands and they were able to spend the moment together:
Sabathia entered Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks (GameTracker) with 2,997 strikeouts. In the second run, he encouraged David Peralta, Christian Walker and former teammate John Ryan Murphy to reach the goal. Here is the ranking of all times on the left:

Two years ago, Sabathia adopted Lolich to become the best AHL forward among left-handed pitchers. When the time comes, .
All but three of the 17 players with 3,000 career outs are in the Hall of Fame. The three exceptions: Sabathia, who is still active; Roger Clemens, whose Hall of Fame nomination has been overshadowed by performance-enhancing drug claims; and Curt Schilling, who is on the path for induction in the next few years.
Sabathia, 38, has already announced that 2019 would be his last season. He is close to 250 career victories (247 in early Tuesday) and 3,500 career (3,485 on Tuesday). At 62.5 WAR for his career (and cash), Sabathia is among the top 25 pitchers since the start of the MLB expansion period in 1961.
Sabathia is the first pitcher to join the 3,000 batting club from the John Smoltz Hall of Fame in 2008. Nolan Ryan is the all-time leader with 5,714 strikeouts. Randy Johnson (4,875), Roger Clemens (4,672) and Steve Carlton (4,136) are the only other pitchers to reach 4,000 career outs.
