The Hackers Behind This Week’s Ransomware Attack Cyberpunk 2077 studio CD Projekt Red appears to have found a buyer for the stolen data. They held an auction on a hacking forum but, like The edge note, they closed it after apparently accepting an offer from elsewhere.

The auction starting price was $ 1 million and there was the option for an interested party with $ 7 million in reserve to buy the data outright. It is not known who acquired the data, how much they paid for it or what they plan to do with the information.
Hackers allegedly grabbed the source code for Cyberpunk 2077, a new version of The Witcher 3 and other games, as well as legal, human resources and financial documents. The CDPR said it would not pay or negotiate with the attackers, even if that meant the hackers could have leaked the data to the public.
Although the ransomware locked some devices on CDPR’s network, the studio was able to begin restoring data from its backups. He also stated that, to his knowledge, the systems containing personal data of his players and users were not affected.
