Top Biden adviser Cedric Richmond told “Axios on HBO” that the White House believes it has bipartisan support for a stimulus bill outside of the Beltway.
- “If our choice is to wait and become bipartisan with an insufficient package, we are not going to do it.”
The big picture: The bill will likely get a Senate overhaul after House Democrats narrowly passed a stimulus bill over the weekend, reports Kadia Goba of Axios.
Richmond said White House Biden has not had conversations about tackling legislative obstruction in the Senate, which requires a 3/5 majority to pass bills.
- “The Senate has been an obstructionist for a long time,” Richmond told “Axios on HBO.”
- “We sent them bills that have the support of 97% of Americans … but it goes to the Senate and dies,” Richmond said. “
