Cedrick Dort will not play in the Gator Bowl

When Kentucky starts against NC State tomorrow at noon, they will do so without junior Redshirt cornerback Cedrick Dort. Dort announced the news via Twitter tonight.

This morning Coach Stoops announced that the team is at 100% after completing their latest round of COVID testing. It’s unclear whether Dort’s status is due to an opt-out or some other unforeseen circumstance.

This season, Dort has allowed seven receptions on 11 targets for 72 yards with ten tackles as well. He has two pass deflections per year. Dort didn’t see many snaps in 2020 behind Kelvin Joseph, but the South Florida native saw a massive increase in snaps against South Carolina after Joseph stepped down days earlier.

Kentucky will now be looking for Carrington Valentine and Brandin Echols around the corner on Saturday.

It’s a pretty thin corner room for Brad White’s defense on Saturday.
