Celebration season

Season of Celebration is the first Pokémon GO season. The celebration season runs from Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, March 1, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. local time, and features a wide variety of Pokémon in the northern and southern hemisphere.

This page lists all of the gameplay changes, events, and bonuses that occur during the Pokémon GO Celebration Season.

Seasonal spawns and eggs

During this season, trainers can expect different Pokémon to appear in the wild. Additionally, the northern and southern hemispheres will have different spawns of Pokémon in the wild.

Pokémon most frequently seen in the northern hemisphere

During Celebration Season, Winter-related Pokémon will appear more frequently in the Northern Hemisphere:

During Celebration Season, Summer-related Pokémon will appear more frequently in the Southern Hemisphere:

Changes to Pokémon Eggs

Once the celebratory season begins, Growlithe and Wingull will hatch within 2 miles of eggs and Baltoy and Ducklett will hatch within 5 miles of eggs. Shinx will be born from 5 km eggs that you will receive from Adventure Sync rewards instead of Ducklett.

Seel, Aron, and Elgyem will no longer hatch eggs at all.


Seasonal mega raids

During Celebration Season, a variety of Mega Evolved Pokémon will be spinning in the Mega Raid System. This is what we know:

  • Mega Charizard X, Mega Gengar, and Mega Abomasnow will be the only Pokémon to appear in Mega Raids in December!
  • Mega Charizard X will be more powerful in the first half of December
  • Different Mega-Evolved Pokémon will appear in Mega Raids during the New Year.
  • Other Mega-Evolved Pokémon May Get More Powerful At Different Times During Celebration Season

Here are some other events you can expect during this season.

December Community Day

Pokémon GO Community DayThe Pokémon GO December Community Day event will be held on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13, 2020. Throughout the event, Pokémon featured in Community Day events in 2019 and 2020 will appear more frequently in nature and during raids.

GO Battle League Season 6

Starting in Season 6, the GO Battle League will drop from 10 to 24 ranks, and the first four ranks will have brand new names and corresponding badges. Learn more here: GO Battle League Season 6 Rank Changes

The expanded ranks will come with a completely new rewards structure, which gives you more possibilities to earn exclusive rewards through ranking.

You can also expect the GO Battle League rewards to be tied to the theme of the current season! Season 6 begins Monday, November 30, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT -8).

Kalos Celebration Event

Generation 6

From Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. local time, Pokémon originally discovered in the Kalos region will appear in the wild, hatch from eggs, and appear in raids for the first time!
