Strawberry fields forever

Everyone’s favorite, charming, ethereal, evocative and unwieldy platformer Celestial is now three years old. How time (and Madeline) flies. And to celebrate the anniversary of the indie hit, original creators Noel Berry, Maddy Thorson and Lena Raine released an 8-bit sequel that started it all.

Developed during a Game Jam in the late 2010s, the rudimentary title now known as Celeste Classic inspired the 2018 mega-seller outing, which tells the story of a young woman’s battle to overcome the titular mountain with her own doubts and fears. Made in just three days, Celeste Classic 2: Lani’s trek sees a new hero embark on his own pixelated adventure, swapping Celestial air-dash mechanic for a trusty grapple.

We bid farewell to the world of Celestial – along with his memorable characters – in the 2019 DLC expansion Farewell. But Lani trek Hope you’ll scratch all the conquerors on C-Side, at least until we see a new project from the talented team that gave us an instant classic.
