Yesterday (February 1), John Cena kicked off his new gig as Mountain Dew’s Super Bowl pitcher while dispelling reports he would be “a lock” for a game at WrestleMania 37.
The reason he gave for being mathematically unable to work at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on April 11 and 12 is his job filming HBO Max’s. Peacemaker series in Canada. Cena says this will continue until July so the show can air after the movie her character debuts in, The suicide squad, released in August.
In a move I choose to interpret as a way to prove how well writer / director James Gunn holds him, Cena made his final appearance on Tonight’s show not just by satellite – but in his full peacemaker costume!
He ruled out ‘Mania again, but vowed to return:
“Yeah, I will. Unfortunately, you know, the state of the world – I mean, I’m not sitting on the couch next to you – it’s a difficult and unpredictable time, and right now I’m doing that, filming Peacemaker, and it’s gonna take a long time. I cannot go back and forth due to international restrictions. So at least for now I’m here and still away from WWE. But I can’t wait to come back as soon as possible.
Cena is obviously working hard, but is he working on us on this year’s immortals showcase? We will find out in a few months.
In the meantime, we have his Major Melon commercial to look forward to this weekend, and plenty of Peacemaker later this year.
And if Cena’s conversation with Jimmy Fallon doesn’t excite you to see him play that “moron, bro-y Captain America” (who appears to have a giant John Cena figure in the simple trailer he calls home. ). I do not know what to tell you.
