Center of Students of the Court of Sciences identified as possible site of exposure to measles

The Student Center of the Court of Science was identified as a possible site of exposure to measles after confirmation of the illness by a UCLA employee, according to an email sent to the entire campus by the Vice Chancellor, Michael Beck, Tuesday.

The Los Angeles County Public Health Department on Monday informed UCLA of the infected employee.

The employee ate at a fast food restaurant at the Science Center Students' Center on July 2-3, while it was contagious, according to the email.

Anyone who visits the Science Center Student Center between 9 am and 11:30 am on July 2nd and 3rd is asked to check vaccination history and contact campus medical centers, such as the Health Center and the Health Center. UCLA has also identified several collaborators of the infected employee who may have been exposed. UCLA Occupational Health is currently auditing the immunization records of these employees.

There is currently no risk associated with measles at the Student Center of the Court of Science. This case is not related to previous exposure to measles at UCLA, according to a press release from LADPH.

This is the 12th case of measles among residents of Los Angeles County this year. According to the press release, most people who contracted the disease were unvaccinated.

According to the press release, the symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose and rash. They usually show up 10 to 21 days after the initial exposure.
