Colts quarterback Chad Kelly was suspended without pay for the first two games of the regular season for violating the NFL's personal behavior policy, the league announced.

Suspension does not affect off-season or pre-season participation

The suspension stems from an incident that occurred in October while he was with the Denver Broncos. Kelly allegedly entered the residence of teammate Von Miller after leaving a Halloween party organized by Von Miller. Kelly was released after the incident.

On March 20, the former St. Joe's star and Ole Miss pleaded guilty to a second degree criminal offense.

He was invited to try the Colts minicamp after the draft and was signed last week. He is fourth on the depth map of the team and will have to earn a spot within the training camp.

In a session with reporters after practice in Indianapolis this week, Kelly has been described as "getting lost" since the Broncos cut him off.

"I did not know what to do," said Kelly. "You have a lot of time on your hands. As you begin to focus on the good Lord above and pray for another chance, talk to your friends, your former teammates, the guys who are just encouraging you, to a family that encourages you every day. . You can go and work as hard as you want, but if you are not on the football field, what does it mean if you work hard?

"I just want to be the best player possible and help this team as much as I can."
