Chadwick Boseman’s widow Simone Ledward received a touching tribute as she paid tribute to her at Monday’s virtual / live hybrid Gotham Awards.

Ledward became emotional while speaking – especially delivering a personal message in closing.
“It is an honor for me to receive this award on behalf of my husband. In recognition not only of her deep work, but of her impact on this industry and this world, ”she said,“ Chad, thank you, I love you. I’m so proud of you. Continue to enlighten us. “
Boseman had also been nominated for Best Actor for his performance in Ma Rainey’s black background, but the prize went to Riz Ahmed for Metal sound.
Ledward’s marriage to Boseman was not made public until after his death. They started dating in 2015 and got engaged in 2019. The wedding is believed to have taken place before her death.
Boseman had secretly battled colon cancer for four years, enduring numerous surgeries and treatments – and Ledward had his back.
