Arizona Cardinals linebacker Chandler Jones confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that he had requested a trade during the offseason.
Meeting the media for the first time this season, Jones confirmed that he asked for treatment during the offseason, which was first reported by Jeremy Fowler from ESPN.
“Yeah, I asked for a trade,” Jones said Wednesday. “If Steve (Keim) wants to talk about it, he can talk about it, or my agent. But it’s true.
During the offseason, Fowler reported that Jones was reportedly unhappy with his current deal with the Cardinals. After sustaining a bicep injury in 2020, the dreaded passer only played five games for the Cardinals.
Jones, 31, is expected to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2021 season. He added on Wednesday and confirmed via a tweet that he will not be discussing a potential new contract during the season.
