Terrell Suggs is not the only pass of cardinals.
I know I know. Everyone knows that. T-Sizzle and his return to Baltimore dominated the storyline, with a close second place, Kyler Murray, his quite impressive debut, and then with Ravens quarterback, Lamar Jackson.
But Chandler Jones is in the latter, of course. How does he (and Suggs) squeeze the smuggler without being burned by Jackson's legs? An excellent question. Overall, you think Jones will find a way. He does it often, even if it seems to be less than expected.
Jones will play his 50th game as a cardinal Sunday against the Ravens. In his first 49 games, he has 42 sacks. Bertrand Berry, 33, is the most important cardinal of his first 50 games. Jones was all the Cardinals had hoped for by exchanging for him against the Patriots. The mediocre to mediocre success of his team since his arrival has probably hindered his visibility, but again, the idea that he was not elected one of the NFL's top 100 players by his peers was amazing (and stupid).
Jones, however, is excited to see how his guy Suggs handles this weekend. As far as he is concerned, he does not sweat the attention. The way he sees it is a good thing.
"I feel as if (my performance) is something expected of me," Jones said. "This organization, when Steve Keim (General Manager) signed me for a five-year contract (in 2017), knew what I was able to do. He did not sign me to get the honors, he signed me to get the statistics.
"Regarding being neglected or not talking about it, that's what is expected of me. If I were going to be there and not doing what I'm doing, then it's all about me, that Chandler Jones is just taking money, not bags. "
– Suggs smiled while talking about the destruction of the Ravens video this week, after playing it so long. Inevitably, some of the video work included cuts from last season – when Suggs was still part of the team.
"It was really crazy to watch the Ravens movie," Suggs said. "I was part of all those games we watched. I knew all the madness was happening on the sidelines. It was a bit weird. But it was fun too.
– We will wait to see if the Cardinals, Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray will be able to continue the offensive after their fourth quarter / overtime. Even though the first three quarters were terrible, the 82 offensive games, 387 yards rushing, 308 passing yards and nine conversions in the third-finals, the Cards vs. Lions were more than any other game that the Broken offensive was able to produce in 2018.
– Quote pretty good Ravens defensive coordinator, Don Martindale, this week on the phenomenon Kliff / Kyler: "History has the means to repeat in this league," he said. "Last year, what was the whole conversation? RPOs. So now it will be Air Raid with Kyler Murray. Between him and Zion (Williamson), I do not know who has more public relations right now. "
– So many links between these teams. I'm looking forward to seeing former cardinal Tony Jefferson, who explained clearly on social media a few months ago that he was excited about this game (it does not hurt that Suggs and he play together ). Larry Fitzgerald reported that he was going against Jefferson, Earl Thomas, the former Seahawks security officer, who is now a raven.
"I do not know if anyone in the league was so happy when Earl Thomas left Seattle last year," Fitzgerald said. "Then, when the schedule came out, I was really disappointed to see that I had to play against him again."
– Speaking of Fitz, we'll see if he can keep the 8-113-1 pace he set in the first game, but the chemistry that separates him from Murray is clear since the start of training camp. "I think every young quarterback needs a security blank, he being that guy for me," Murray said.
– By the way, I flipped through the last and last printed issue of ESPN The Magazine, which has been the subject of many revisions over the years, including Fitz's appearance before the 2004 draft. quote from Fitzgerald University teammate Pitgeburgh, Reggie Carter, who seems … prescient as Fitz slowly tries to catch up with Jerry Rice's records, although it does not look like Fitz.
"I told him:" You have hands like Jerry Rice, "Carter said. "Larry said," What? I had better hands than Jerry Rice. "
– It was interesting to hear DC Vance Joseph note that rookie cornerback Byron Murphy might have played a little more gently in the cover against Lions than Joseph would have liked. Joseph's message? You can be burned for a touchdown at each game when you are a cornerback. You can not let that scare you by losing your aggression. To be fair, Murphy was in his first game. He will get there.
– Mark Andrews of the Ravens, a product of Scottsdale Desert Mountain High, is ready for a big year. After the tight end T.J. Hockensen injured the Cardinals last week, he will be a player to watch.
– Steve Keim is pleased with the offensive online game of the first week. Consistency, however, means something. We will also be interested to see how Justin Murray can hold on, and whether we will talk about a possibility of Jordan Mills or whether Murray will be able to lock more or less the spot.
– Kingsbury was talking about coaches Suggs and Fitzgerald this week. Remember that Kingsbury and Suggs actually participated in the 2003 project, and Fitzgerald became professional a year later. "It gives me the impression of being honest every day and watching them do what they do," said Kingsbury. "It inspires me. If they can go there and put their bodies on it, I can get up early to study a movie. "
– Another quote from Suggs. He is a movie buff and he watched "Bridge of Spies" on Thursday night. He made an analogy with his return to Baltimore. "(There was a line)" How will I know you're doing well? "Suggs recounted. "If I'm kissed like a brother or if I'm just shown in the back seat." It's all clear, for three hours Sunday, I'm their opponent, that's my opponent … After the match, we'll see if they show me the backseat or if I'm kissing brother. "
