Changes and updates to the new Fortnite Season 8 map are detailed

The transition from one season to another is rarely smooth in the world of Fortnite, as the developer Epic Games likes to make significant changes that revolutionize everything experienced players know. Epic does this through large-scale global events that develop Fortnite's traditions and rework the island on which players spend all their time. Season 8, which is now live, is no exception.

As Season 7 drew to a close, players reported earthquakes and eventually cracks began to form on the island. Now it has been revealed that an incredibly powerful figure – the prisoner – held captive by the ice king has now escaped. Alongside this enigmatic figure finding his freedom, a volcano appeared on the island and ninjas appeared. If the Ice King's Ice Fiends and weird fire ninjas were not enough, hackers also arrived on the island. Each of these factions has their eyes fixed on a treasure and, over the weeks, the struggle to acquire the said treasure will become more and more complicated.

All of this has profoundly changed Fortnite Island. When you look at the map, you will notice especially the northwest corner, where you can see the new volcano, surrounded by a lava pool. This lava is not fair for the show, because the touch will make a point of damage and will bounce the player. It may not sound like much, but when a skirmish heats up, staying in the lava when health is bad could make all the difference between a Royal Victory and a second place.

Another new game item is Volcanic Winds. These have appeared around the map and emit air that can be used to facilitate the crossing. If you or a vehicle in which you find yourself are caught in a stream of air coming out of a vent, you will be thrown into the sky. They work in a very similar way to that used before, so they basically replace.

Around the volcano, two new areas have also appeared. Sunny Steps is in the east and has a distinct Maya aesthetic, with pyramidal structures that look like temples. It is also nestled in the jungle and surrounded by greenery. With the sun radiant on it, the area seems pretty idyllic, although we predict that chaotic skirmishes will not be long.

Lazy Lagoon, located to the west of the volcano, is a region on the theme of new pirates arrived on the island. There is a huge pirate ship there, and we expect the challenges of the next few weeks to force us to board the ship regularly. Already, a challenge of week 1 sends you to track down the pirate camps.

But the changes are not just limited to the island, as the spawn island, where players gather before getting on the fight bus have also changed. He now has a little more jungle theme, while having a few small touches to remind players that there are hackers on the market. You can view the map, as well as the new locations in the images above.
