Charles Manson, a disciple of Leslie Van Houten, again refused parole – Deadline

Van Houten’s lawyer Rich Pfeiffer said they would appeal Newsom’s decision.

“This reversal will demonstrate to the courts that there is no way Newsom can let her out,” Pfeiffer said. “So they have to apply the law, otherwise it will never be applied.”

Van Houten is serving a life sentence for the LaBianca murders in August 1968. Van Houten was 19 when she and others fatally stabbed the LaBiancas and smeared the couple’s blood on the walls, allegedly in an attempt to start a race war that the group has dubbed “Helter Skelter”.

Newsom said in her ruling that “the evidence shows that she currently poses an unreasonable danger to society if released from prison.”

Pfeiffer initially requested his release in May due to the coronavirus pandemic. This appeal was dismissed.

Charles Manson died in prison in 2017. He was present at the LaBianca murders, but is said to have remained in the car during the murders.
