The blunders of former vice president Joe Biden during his Democratic presidential campaign must be frustrating for former President Barack Obama, according to Charlie Hurt.

In addition, Hurt said, a report published that Obama had informed Biden early in 2019 that he was not required to run for president in 2020 is not a positive development for Biden.

"It's been 45 years since he's in Washington," Hurt said Friday in "Hannity," referring to Biden's blunders. "That's why he has never managed to get the nomination for the post of president. That's why Barack Obama was chosen to the White House as his vice-president."

OBAMA REPORTED TO ITS SUBMISSION THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE SHORT IN 2020

The Fox News contributor added that Biden was not a big ambassador for the Obama presidency.

"Think about it for a moment, think about the embarrassment that Barack Obama must feel for this guy to try to defend Obama's legacy," he said. "It must be extremely embarrassing."

Regarding the New York Times' report on Obama's assessment of Biden's presidential aspirations to the presidency, Hurt wondered if anyone in the orbit of the ex-president spoke with the newspaper.

"Who fled this kind of things?" He asked. "The only people who could have divulged all this to the New York Times are Barack Obama's people, and I mean – what a fang in the back."

Host Gregg Jarrett added that Biden had been attacked during key debates for his connection to some Obama policies.

In the Times, Obama reportedly told Biden: "You do not have to do this Joe, you really do not."

Obama would have "bothered to put his doubts on the campaign in personal terms."

Speculation revolved around Obama's decision to abstain until here to officially support Biden. Yet, despite Obama's first hesitations, he played a much more involved role in the Biden campaign than in the efforts of other candidates, the Times reported.
