The Charming Charlie jewelry and accessories retailer closes its 261 stores as part of its latest chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.
The company has stores in 38 states, including Alabama, where it is located in Huntsville, Birmingham and Mobile.
Houston-based Charming Charlie closed about 100 stores during its previous bankruptcy, which ended in 2018, USA Today reported. A court said Thursday that these cuts "were not enough to stabilize" activity and restore profitability.
Exit sales are in progress in many places. According to court records, the stores are expected to close by August 31.
Charming Charlies was founded in 2004.
