Ohio State produces NFL players as good as any NFL team. No one will question that. But the way the Buckeyes produce defensive players, especially those on the defensive line, gets odd.

The Ohio State captain recorded 46 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks – an Ohio State record – and seven forced fumbles. Young finished fourth in voting for the 2019 Heisman Trophy after traveling to New York with his teammate Justin fields. The defensive end won the Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Ted Hendricks Award, Chicago Tribune Silver Football and was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year, First Team All-Big Ten and an All- Big Ten unanimous -American.
Young was the national leader in sacks and sacks per game (1.38) in 2019 while finishing second in tackles for loss and tackles for loss per game (1.8). He was a key component in an Ohio State defense that ranked No.1 in total defense (259.7 yards per game), No. 2 in passing yards (156.0 yards per game), red zone scores (66%) and passing efficiency (97.50) and No. 4 in terms of score (13.7 points per game).

The defensive end ended his career in Ohio State with 31 career sacks, the second-most in program history and, after declaring himself early, was selected by the Redskins No. 2nd overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.
