“The post office is in a bit of trouble right now, certainly in the news, bouncing back,” the actor notes.
Cheers Actor John Ratzenberger has some thoughts on how to support the United States Postal Service, which he recorded for a video public service announcement from Cameo.
Ratzenberger, who played the likeable factor Cliff Clavin on the iconic TV series, said in part: “The post office is a bit in a mess right now, certainly in the news, being bounced back.” The actor was referring to President Donald Trump’s attacks and attempts to deprive the federal agency of resources in an apparent attempt to impact the 2020 election.
Ratzenberger recorded the Cameo (a video service where celebrities share a greeting or personalized message for a fee) for Cursive group member Tim Kasher, who shared the PSA on social media.
Ratzenberger suggested those who wanted to help out the agency’s store postal service and purchase items, such as stamps. “Help your local post office. Go out there and do something, ”the actor said.
In related news, Last week tonight Host John Oliver denounced Trump on Sunday night for the president’s relaunched racist Birtherism attacks, this time against Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
“It’s a depressing resurgence of birtherism, so of course Trump jumped on it,” Oliver said. Trump said at a recent press conference that he “heard” the plot, but didn’t know if it was true.
“It’s really amazing how slow Trump is to respond to so many things, like, I don’t know, a public health crisis, but when it comes to amplifying racist conspiracy theories, he suddenly is the fucking Flash on cocaine, ”Oliver joked.
